New features for Modular Dispensing in Pharmacy Manager

In my last blog, I discussed our commitment to rebuild the dispensing process in our Pharmacy Manager PMR in a modular way, providing our users with the flexibility and choice, whilst bringing much needed efficiencies to the fore.

We recently released two exciting new features in the PMR – a Prescription Homepage and an Integrated Clinical Check Module.

The Prescription Homepage provides users with critical tools that allows them to organise and prioritise their prescription workflow whilst the Clinical Check Module delivers the flexibility to complete a clinical check upfront on the PMR, freeing up valuable Pharmacist time.

We understand that particularly in the current climate, you will be looking at every opportunity to free up staff time and engage in other revenue generating activities, and our development work in Pharmacy Manager is all geared around realizing those efficiencies

We’re delighted to share these features that have now been live with our product discovery PMR users for a number of months, they are reporting back some of the benefits and impacts they are realising from these new modular ways of working across dispensing.

Users had the following to say on the PMR Prescription Homepage updates:

Adding on multiple filters for acute/repeat prescriptions allows you to see the current workload more easily and using the APP and delivery tags, again makes it easier to manage workload." – Weldricks Pharmacy

“It is helpful and runs fast, the efficiency and the app user filters are of great benefit.”
Browns Pharmacy

Users had the following to say about the PMR Integrated Clinical Check Module:

“This is a huge time saver. I like it a lot.” – Alneburgh Pharmacy

“The screen is very clear and intuitive to use which is great. It works well for new items.”– Magrath Pharmacy

So, where to next?

We are on a mission to hunt down and eliminate some of the 'time-sinks' that exist in Pharmacies, specifically within the software that you rely on. One of the critical pain points around clinical checks are soon to be a thing of the past with new Automated Clinical Check functionality in our PMR.

Automated Clinical Checks in Pharmacy Manager

When the pharmacist has determined that a prescription is clinically safe for a patient, many current systems and workflows dictate that they have to then repeat that process each month, even if nothing has changed in the patients’ medication schedule, and the item(s) remain consistent from last time.

This repeated checking is a major drain on pharmacists time – but no for much longer! Excitingly, Pharmacy Manager will be able to intelligently identify prescriptions, subject to user configurable rules, which require a Clinical Check - flagging those remaining unchanged and can therefore be automatically checked and processed.

Of course, we will ensure that the option always remains to manually intervene, and the control remains with the pharmacist, but the days of having to recheck every prescription are soon to be a thing of the past within Pharmacy Manager.

Fast Labelling in Pharmacy Manager

Whilst we continue to provide new intuitive, flexible modules supporting different ways of working in dispensing, we are also focussed on features to gain precious time saving pharmacies so badly need. Features that seem simple but bring big impacts - like fast labelling.

In Pharmacy Manager we will be moving a new solution into Beta testing, when our discovery panels will trial new technology that automatically analyses prescriptions upon download, allowing the system to interrogate the prescription data in the background and utilise it to streamline processes like labelling. The PMR system will be able to automatically synchronise prescriptions with patient records to make product suggestions/selections and remove of the need for user input in the process.
